Theta wave
What happens in the mind when we dream? In the twilight realm between sleep and the conscious mind, energy currents known as theta waves cycle through our brains at an incredibly slow rate. These energy currents are intrinsically linked to deep meditation, purification of the nervous system and spiritual intuition. Theta waves stir up images, feelings and impressions from the subconscious mind; they release our fears alongside the sublime from the places we keep under lock and key deep within ourselves, and in doing so enable us to access higher states of being
Theta Wave is a projection of these energy cycles of the mind, a powerful visual/sonic experience that captures the disruptive path of our trapped thoughts as they are stirred from dark places.

This was a collaborative photographic exhibition with Darren J Harris back in 2013. I was exploring grief as my father had just passed away.
biwa
BIWA is an experimental project shot at Lake Biwa, Japan back in 2015. I wanted to capture the immediate feeling I had of being there at the lake, staring out at the view; the colours, textures, and contrast all fascinated me, I loved just sitting there at the lake taking it all in. So, rather than shooting a straight photograph of what was in front of me I used props to distort the lens to create an abstract view.
